In Psalm 119:105, the Psalmist shared how important GOD’s word is to His life’s journey. He confessed GOD’s word thus: “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” We are shown here how important the light of GOD’s word is as we navigate the path of life. This light is what brings illumination and we are enabled to see where and how to move along on the journey.
Now, because the light of GOD’s word is shining on us and illuminating our path, we then in turn are enabled to become the light and example for others to look to for clarity and sight. In Matthew 5:14-16, scripture affirms of the one whose path is lighted by the lamp of GOD’s word, “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Where we get our strength and energy matters. The source of any venture is critical to its continued wholesome sustenance. When your energy and what you give off or what you reflect takes its source from the light of GOD’s word, as we continually behold the glory that is revealed to us from the light that comes from the word then we must ensure that nothing comes between us and the light of GOD, to cast a shadow.
Child of GOD, I encourage you today to fully focus on the One who is able to illuminate every path or detour of life that you will have to navigate. Move only in the light of the proceeding word of GOD! Act based on the illumination received by the word! Remember it is said of the word in Hebrews 4:12 “The word of GOD is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” The word is a perfect mirror and light for the journey of life. It is quick! Meaning as we employ it, there are no delays to its activation in our situation. It is powerful! Meaning it has the ability to do what it is deployed to do! It is sharper than any two edged sword! Meaning nothing can’t withstand or resist its piercing through, be it spiritual or physical or any circumstance! It is a discerner of thoughts and intents of the heart! Meaning there is no hiding place from it, nowhere and no one it cannot penetrate!
As you navigate your day, week, month, year and life dear friend, walk in the light of GOD’s word! Let the word be your guiding light! Let it be your bright lamp!
